There are many numerous similarities, too many to go over in a comment. I would recommend reading up on the intricacies of how BigQuery works and comparing them to Spark. Ultimately, however, BigQuery is not the same as Spark in most ways, it's just helpful to think about BigQuery through the lens of Spark since BigQuery is also distinctly different from a normal RDBMS.
